OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Jesse Winker homered for the second straight game, Cal Raleigh knocked it out of the park as well, and the Seattle Mariners strung out wins Wednesday for the first time in more than two weeks after blowing 9- 0 to the Oakland Athletics.
JP Crawford doubled twice and drove in two runs. Julio Rodríguez had two hits and scored twice for Seattle, which had lost seven of its last nine games before starting a trip with a pair of wins against a team with the worst record in the major leagues.
George Kirby (2-2) claimed the victory after a six-inning effort with five hits and six strikeouts. He lived up to a string of solid outings from the Mariners’ starters while snapping his own three-game losing streak.
The loss went to the record of Paul Blackburn (6-3) after giving up seven runs and 10 hits in four innings.
For the Mariners, the Dominican Julio Rodríguez 4-2, with two runs scored and an RBI. The Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez 4-1, with a run scored.
For the Athletics, the Dominicans Ramón Laureano 3-2; Cristian Pache 1-0.
