Today, the Human Rights Defender Kristine Grigoryan said that she is familiar with the publications about the situation in Nerkin Hand in Syunik region.
The ombudsman answered journalists’ questions at a briefing after the government session. According to him, the Human Rights Defender’s rapid response group left for Nerkin Hand to get acquainted with the living and security conditions of the population. “The problems will be registered. We will present our proposals. I myself plan to visit the region in early April and I am going to share the results of the visit with the public. If there are cases of violation of property rights, they will be registered. “
Kristine Grigoryan, responding to accusations that she had been delayed in responding to former ombudsman Arman Tatoyan’s actions, said she did not consider it helpful to be the first to say anything to the public about the ombudsman’s mandate, and that such questions should be asked by the defense ministry. “The ombudsman’s targets should be human rights issues, not security, the movement of troops or other issues that require military knowledge and information. “We do not have the function of confirming or denying the statements of the Ministry of Defense, which must be the first to respond to those questions,” said Kristine Grigoryan.
He stated that he was not going to withdraw any lawsuit filed by Arman Tatoyan in the Constitutional Court.
