Epidemiologist Ilir Alimehmeti has spoken about the Covid situation in the country and the increase in new cases.
In a Skype connection to the Vizion Plus news studio, Alimehmeti said that we are dealing with a subvariant of omicron. He emphasizes that there is no place for panic on a European and global scale.
“We’re dealing with a sub-variant of Omicron. These are numbers that we should not keep an eye on for new cases. There is no panic on a European scale or even a global scale because the number of occupied beds in hospitals is not increasing,” Alimehmeti said.
He added that soon the coronavirus will be a common flu. Among other things, the epidemiologist said that this coming winter will be far from the winter we passed.
“We are seeing waves after waves that are always softer, we are talking about serious cases and loss of life. We are not yet at the point of extinction, the coronavirus will be a common flu in the future, but we cannot yet consider it as such. The first day, the second day has stronger signs, the third day and so on become lighter. We noticed that the other variant is not happening because omicron has a very high fitness for the human body and has raised the stakes for another variant to appear. This coming winter will be far from the winter we spent”, Alimehmeti said.
