Chennai: Indian player Ravichandran Ashwin said that denying Sanju Samson an opportunity is not fair. I want Sanju Samson to play for India in all formats. The impossibly talented star is in top form. Ashwin asked whether Sanju is trending even if he doesn’t play. The star’s response was through the YouTube channel. Ashwin said that he is looking forward to see Sanju perform well for India.
Ashwin also referred to the reaction of Hardik Pandya, who led India in the Twenty20 series against New Zealand, that there were no personal reasons for not giving Sanju a chance. Ashwin said that Hardik Pandya’s answer to the question that was trending on social media was Dhoni in steel, and Hardik managed to avoid that question very strategically. Ashwin also said that Hardik must have learned the skill of staying out of controversies from Dhoni.
Hardik told the media that it was a short series and that’s why more players didn’t get a chance. Hardik also commented that if he wanted to play Sanju, it could not be done due to many reasons. The reaction was while talking to the media after the third Twenty20 match.
If we take Sanju’s case, it can be said to be unfortunate. He had to be played. But it was not possible due to many things. But I understand their pain. Even though you got a chance in the Indian team, you were not included in the playing eleven – this is a very difficult situation.’- Hardik said.
There were three matches against New Zealand. The first match was interrupted by rain. The third match also ended in a draw due to rain. India won the series 1-0. Sanju Samson, Shubman Gill, Kuldeep Yadav and Umran Malik were included in the squad but did not play a single match.
