The European Under-23 Wrestling Championship ended in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, within the framework of which the Armenian freestyle wrestling team won 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Hrachya Margaryan (65 kg) and Narek Harutyunyan (70 kg) won silver medals in the team led by Habetnak Kurghinyan. In the fight for the bronze medal, Edik Harutyunyan (57 kg) defeated the Turkish Yusuf Demir with a score of 10: 0, and Norik Harutyunyan (61 kg) defeated the representative of Northern Macedonia with the same score of 10: 0.
Menua Yaribekyan (74 kg), Mushegh Mkrtchyan (79 kg) and Mher Markosyan (86 kg) were close to winning bronze medals, but lost in the decisive fights.
Hovhannes Maghakyan (125 kg), a member of the Armenian freestyle wrestling team, participated in the European Under-23 Wrestling Championships. He was left out of the medal.
It should be reminded that the Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team earlier won 3 bronze medals at the European Under-23 Championship held in Plovdiv. Tigran Minasyan (60 kg), Sahak Hovhannisyan (67 kg) and Shant Khachatryan (72 kg) became bronze medalists in the Armenian team.
