German Finance Minister Annalena Baerbock has said that the European Union will increase financial assistance and arms shipments to Ukraine.
“We will increase the financial means for the purchase of military goods up to 1 billion euros. “We stand in full solidarity with Ukraine, we aim to protect the civilian population in Ukraine,” Baerbock said.
Germany will also ensure that arms sales by German manufacturers are carried out as soon as possible. “Ukraine needs more weapons,” she said, without elaborating.
Baerbock also stressed that the alliance must prevent the war from spreading to other countries. “We have a responsibility to the Ukrainians, but we also have a responsibility to the 450 million Europeans and those who are members of NATO. “We can not take responsibility for the fact that there will be more acts of war in other countries,” she said.
