The main suspect of killing her husband and keeping his body in a freezer in Lacerdópolis (SC) confessed to the crime during a video interview published yesterday. According to the suspect’s lawyer, she turned herself in to authorities earlier this afternoon.
On Beto Ribeiro Channel, on YouTube, Claudia Frenandes Tavares Hoeckler, 40, gave details of what her relationship with her husband was like, the driver Valdemir Hoeckler, 52, said he suffered aggression and said he was threatened with death before committing the crime. She admitted to having given Valdemir a sleeping pill and asphyxiated him.
During the interview, Claudia claims that the crucial moment came after he prevented her from going on a trip with co-workers, which would take place on the last 14th. According to her, Valdemir threatened her with death if she decided to go on the trip.
“I freaked out. And I thought, ‘Since someone is going to die, let it be you. [Valdemir]🇧🇷
As Valdemir worked at night, she says that when her husband got home, she gave him sleeping pills and suffocated him.
“It was all sudden. They were my father-in-law’s medicines. He took them along with other medicines he was already taking”. After he lay down to sleep, about half an hour later, she claims to have put “a market bag on his head”.
Claudia even claims that she put it in the freezer, with the intention of hiding it, after wrapping it in a sheet.
The suspect still went to travel with her colleagues, before investigations into the case began, with searches for the body.
investigations and defense
The Civil Police was already waiting for her to turn herself in, which happened in Joaçaba (SC), the largest city with the greatest public security structure. “She has already made a public statement that she killed him. Possibly, in the official version, I believe that she should collaborate and provide clarification on thes motives and the way he executed it”, said delegate Gilmar Antônio good friendto UOL🇧🇷
The chief did not want to comment on the progress of the investigations because he had not yet heard Claudia, now a suspect – the chief had spoken to her once, even when the case was being treated as a disappearance.
To UOL, the defense confirmed that Claudia turned herself in to the police. “She was a physically and psychologically abused woman. At times, she was even sexually abused. AND who to preserve his own life, killed. Today she is turning herself in to the police and is possibly going to be arrested. But she makes it very clear: she has never felt so free,” said lawyer Marco Alencar.
Valdemir’s body was found on Saturday night. He had been missing since Monday (14), when he didn’t show up for work. The wife allowed the search – but was not there when the police found the body. The police suspected the homicide due to conflicting versions given by the wife and other information collected from neighbors.
Officially, Hoeckler’s wife testified on Friday (18), when she had bruises and marks of aggression on her arm. Asked about the origin of the injuries, she couldn’t explain it – but she agreed to take the forensic examination, according to the delegate. One of the elements that caught the attention of the Civil Police was the state of the freezer in the house.
When the Fire Department was on site to search the property during the week, the woman offered lunch to the military and soft drinks, which were in the freezer. However, the appliance was almost full – which caught the attention of a neighbor who accompanied the searches. He reported to the police that days before he was at the residence and noticed that the freezer was empty. In an inspection, the police found Valdemir’s body.
history of aggression
Claudia met Valdemir 22 years ago and says he has a history of violence. The driver supplied smuggled cigarettes at her mother’s cafeteria. At the time, Valdemir was married and already had three children. The two began a hidden courtship.
“I liked another boy, but my mother wouldn’t let me date and said that Valdemir was a mature guy. I had to give him a chance. […]🇧🇷 I traveled with him [ao Paraguai] and I fell in love”, she told the YouTube channel.
At the same time, she gave birth to Gabriela, the result of her relationship with Valdemir. Over the years, Valdemir maintained the double relationship, against Claudia’s will. It was in this context, according to the suspect, that she began to suffer aggression. She tried to run away at least three times, but kept coming back because of threats against her and her daughter.
Gabriela left home at age 18, but the two continued to talk in secret.
Despite the difficulties, Claudia says that she managed to get a degree in pedagogy, but in several situations she had to work in secret, due to his jealousy and the goal of becoming financially independent.
In 2019, she says that she filed a police report and got a protective measure against her husband, but had to go back, out of fear.
“Once he tried to kill me. He locked me in the room. He stayed up all night saying he was going to kill me. He threatened to kill his daughter too”, she says.
Despite having known Valdemir for 22 years, they only officially got married in September of this year to buy land from his father.
“I’ve never felt so free”
Claudia says in the video that she intends to serve the sentence for the crime.
“I’m going to serve my sentence now, I’m going to jail, but I’ve never felt so free. […] I feel that my daughter is safer. There will be no one stopping us from seeing each other. I know I’m going to stop being beaten, I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s a freedom.”
She says she still wants to help other women who are going through or who have been in the same situation as her, even though she knows she could be arrested. “I told my friends the opposite of what I lived. Not letting men order them, that they couldn’t be aggressive”.
Cláudia claims that she spoke with Gabriela after the crime, even though she didn’t exactly talk about the action. The suspect thinks that the daughter will understand her mother’s attitude and that the young woman supported her, regardless of everything.
