It was not possible to find out from Baba’s members why Babayan left the commission. Andranik Kocharyan, who played his role very well, did not answer RFE / RL’s calls.
The representative of the government Alen Simonyan stated about the necessity of examining the circumstances of the war in the National Assembly, before the National Assembly of the 8th convocation had not been formed yet. It is not yet clear on what legal grounds the extra-parliamentarians were involved in the work of the war commission of inquiry
Samvel Babayan, Norayr Norikyan and Davit Sanasaryan were elected from the extra-parliamentary forces cooperating with Prime Minister Pashinyan. Andranik Kocharyan represented them at the last sitting as an independent consultant. On what legal grounds are the other independent consultants in the commission, will they follow Samvel Babayan’s example or will they work? Norikyan and Sanasaryan did not answer our calls.
One of the 11 extra-parliamentary forces cooperating with Pashinyan must be elected to replace Babayan. There are only pro-government deputies in the commission of inquiry, and the opposition has refused to work in this commission from the very beginning.
