©AfreePress-(Lomé, September 9, 2022)-The Togolese Revenue Office (OTR) is now introducing a “safety and health at work” day into its annual agenda of activities.
The first edition of this day – the purpose of which is to ensure the well-being of agents – was observed on Friday, September 9, 2022 at the headquarters of the institution.
On the menu of this first celebration, face-to-face and online exchanges and sharing, focusing on topics related to health and safety at work in particular, the advantages enjoyed by agents in terms of health insurance and life insurance, and time management.
The day continued in the evening with awareness raising on fire management, practical exercises on the use of fire extinguishers and other entertainment activities such as petanque games and table tennis.
For those responsible for the tax administration, it is a matter of decreeing a “non-stress” day to allow agents to recharge their batteries with a view to achieving the objectives set.
“At the Togolese Revenue Office, in order to ensure the well-being of all agents and in order to achieve its objectives, the Management Committee continues to provide social services for them. Among the systems put in place, mention may be made of health insurance for all agents, the registration of agents with the National Social Security Fund; the establishment of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee; various training courses in first aid; the establishment of staff representatives; the organization of socio-cultural, sporting and educational activities; the support of several organizations and groups of OTR agents (the mutual insurance company, the OTR sports association, the OTR musical group, the OTR women’s association, etc.), reminded Mrs. AZIAGLOSSOU-VOVOR Dzidua, Director of Resources and Professional Training of the OTR.
According to this, all of these systems contribute to the reduction of work stoppages, the reduction of stress, the strengthening of team spirit, the improvement of the social climate and the increase in OTR productivity.
“The OTR’s health and safety day is initiated for all Office staff to allow them to get closer to each other in a friendly way and to sympathize around the motto of the OTR which is to federate to build”, she added.
The Commissioner General of the OTR, by officially launching the activities of this day, reiterated the commitment of the management committee of the office to work to put the agents in the right conditions so that they are fulfilled citizens, because he insisted, the office’s productivity depends on it.
“We would like to salute this day which is in its first edition. We have always said that any initiative that will improve things is welcome. For an institution like OTR the most important thing is human capital. We are aware of this and we are struggling and doing everything possible on the guidelines of our highest authorities to ensure that the agent is at the heart of the reforms for his well-being, his development and his evolution in his career “, suggested Kokou Philippe TCHODIE.
