This completely blocked the social networks Facebook, Instagram and Twitter in Russia.
Instagram and other networks and independent media were blocked at the request of the State Prosecutor’s Office.
After Facebook temporarily allowed users of some countries to call for violence against Russian soldiers, the Russian prosecutor’s office filed a complaint against Meta as an “extremist organization” and requested a ban on Russian territory.
Meta spokesman Andy Stone told CNN that political statements that usually violate Facebook rules, such as violent statements, are temporarily tolerated.
“We will still not allow such calls for violence against Russian citizens“, said Stone.
The Russian prosecutor’s office sharply criticized the company, stating that it forms a notion of the permissibility of terrorism and that it incites the incitement of hatred and enmity towards the citizens of Russia.
