The detainees are the nanny who took care of the child who died on Monday, her husband and daughter, who are indicted for kidnapping, extortion and aggravated murder, a police source revealed today.
The mother and stepfather of Jessica, the three-year-old girl who died Monday in Setúbal as a victim of mistreatment, were also heard during the night, but have already left the premises of the Setúbal Judiciary Police, which sends further clarifications to a statement to be released this morning.
As Jessica’s grandmother, Rosa Tomás, revealed to journalists, the signs of abuse were already evident when the mother went to pick up the child from the house of the alleged nurse, last Monday morning.
However, only a few hours later the family alerted the authorities, who mobilized an emergency medical team from the Setúbal Hospital Center to the scene.
The child was assisted at his mother’s house and transported to the Hospital de São Bernardo, where he was subjected to resuscitation maneuvers, but did not survive his injuries.
