Days of remembrance bring to attention the 93-year-old artist Lekë Tasi. 32 years after the fall of the communist regime, Leka remembers the difficult life that fate reserved for him during the dictatorship. Exiled for 15 years in Grabjan of Lushnja, he confesses the greatest fear he had at that time, but also the incessant desire to tell the truth.

“It’s the number one fear they have to keep their mouths shut and that’s why they needed to invent false witnesses to invent words like we told them.”
Even today, the painter returns to the village of Grabian, the place that left deep traces in the history of his life and tells about the emotions he experiences.

“One misses the bad time that has passed. I go with friends when we go to Vlora or Fier and I tell you we stop for a while in Grabjan to see. “Now Grabjani is a completely new village, but I do not hold a grudge against the past, because it was a political past and they do not blame me.”
At the end of his exile, he returned to Tirana in 1990, and resumed his artistic life. Through irony to grotesque in his paintings and books, Lekë Tasi calls on young people to get acquainted with the past.
