The director of Communication and Information of the state government of Táchira, Yepfri Arguello announced the name of the creditors of the 2022 Journalism Awards.
Arguello informed that the governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, decided this year to raise the tax units for the prizes for journalists, for which the winner of the Dr. Ramón J. Velásquez award will receive more than 5 thousand tax units, while the other mentions will receive more than 3 thousand tax units, as a way to dignify the work of journalists.
According to the qualifying jury represented by the government of Táchira and the National College of Journalists, the winners were the following:
The winner of the Dr. Ramón J. Velásquez State Award for Journalism was Ángel Javier Escalante Moncada, who carried out a work on the Virgen de la Consolación de Táriba and another with the oldest man in the world.
The Dr. Ramón J. Velásquez award for audiovisual journalism went to Antonio Bello Parada, who carried out work related to alternative fuel.
The radio mention and the written press the winners were Luisa Elena Guerra and Bleima Coromoto Márquez Ríos respectively.
As for the Táchira State Promotion award, the winner was Yuliana del Carmen Ruiz Contreras, who focused on highlighting tourist and cultural issues in the Táchira region.
Elizabeth Montoya, a journalist from Táchira Civil Protection, was awarded the Promotion of Táchira award, an Institutional mention, for the production of the digital magazine PC Comunica, a vision of the work of the Táchira prevention network.
Lastly, and with 44% acceptance in a survey carried out digitally among the general public, the winner of the State Award for Science and Technology was the journalist, Freddy Villamizar from TRT, for his work on social networks.
