For years, Onufrija Vranić’s father, a Hilandar, diligently recorded sketches from the life of monks, as well as recipes for preparing meals on the Holy Mount Athos from various monasteries located next to Hilandar.
In the end, he collected the collected photos with good photos in the book “Svetogorski kuvar”, which reveals to us how invigorating, tasty and healthy food is prepared in monasteries in a simple and easy way.
One of the many recipes we have singled out is the recipe for gingerbreads (Father Milutin’s fasting gingerbreads), which are many people’s favorite dry cakes.
Gingerbread, in addition to being easy to prepare, can be stored in a glass jar for a long time, and then served with tea or coffee when we need it.
There are gingerbreads that have a white glaze, then those to which we add aromatic spices such as cinnamon, cloves, ginger, for a better aroma, but also those that are dipped in chocolate.

Way of preparation:
Pour all the ingredients into the preparation bowl, mix and make the dough. Put your hands in the flour and with your floured hands take smaller pieces of dough and shape the gingerbread. This way we make gingerbread until we use up the mixture.
Put paper in a baking tin and arrange gingerbread on it. Bake for 15 minutes at 180C.
