©AfreePress-(Lomé, December 20, 2021)- The atmosphere was electric on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Sokodé Stadium, during the match between Semassi FC and Kakadl from Défalé. Match counting for the fourth day of the Togolese elite championship.
The meeting was marked by acts of violence with the throwing of projectiles and stones. In this stampede, a gendarme was seriously injured.
According to information obtained by the AfreePress news agency, it was a penalty whistled for Semassi FC but which was later canceled by the referee who was at the origin of the incident.
Indeed, the game referee, on an action, indicated Kakadl’s penalty spot but his assistant pointed to the corner. After consulting the latter, the penalty was finally canceled. Which certainly did not please the Sémons supporters.
To calm the violence, the police used tear gas. The match therefore did not come to an end. The Kakadl players were escorted under protection to the Sokodé gendarmerie. Barricades were erected on the roads around the stadium.
For the time being, the National Football Federation (FTF) has not yet commented on this incident.
