In its latest weekly epidemiological report on Covid-19, Public Health France (SpF) warns of the increase in the incidence rate in all school-age classes.
The Covid-19 has been circulating more and more actively in schools since the start of the spring school year. In its latest weekly report, Public Health France (SpF) explains that the incidence rate is increasing in all school-age classes, more than 800 among 6-10 year olds (+ 39%), 11-14 years (+41%) and 30-39 years (+22%). It was highest among 6-10 year olds (+39%) and 11-14 year olds (+41%), with the latter showing the greatest increase. This rebound in the incidence rate had already started the previous week among 3-5 year olds and 6-10 year olds, while this rate was still slightly down in the other age groups. Remember that wearing a mask is no longer compulsory at school. The screening rate was also on the rise in all age groups. It was highest among 6-10 year olds (3,194, +39%). The positivity rate evolved in a contrasting way according to the age groups. It has increased sharply among 11-14 year olds (30.2%, +6.8 points) and 15-17 year olds (28.1%, +3.0 points), and more weakly among 0-2 year olds (20.9%, +0.8 points). On the other hand, it was stable among 6-10 year olds (29.3%) and down among 3-5 year olds (-2.4 points).

An incidence rate of 686 cases per 100,000 inhabitants
At the national level and for all age groups, the incidence rate increased last week after six consecutive weeks of decline, amounting to 686 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (+ 25%), or more than 65,000 new cases on average per day. The screening rate has also increased (+11%) after several weeks of decline, specifies SpF. The discrepancy between the number of cases and hospitalizations obliges, the number of new hospital admissions stabilized (-5%), except in Hauts-de-France (+17%), while the drop in new critical care admissions continued (-17%), but it is to be feared that the next few weeks will see these curves go up.
