©AfreePress-(Lomé, December 23, 2021)-Ex-Togolese international Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor is angry with European clubs for refusing to release players for the 2021 African Cup of Nations, which will start in Cameroon from January 9, 2022.
According to the Togolese star, this decision is “disgusting” and African players playing in the West must oppose it.
“No coach in the world can prevent me from playing at CAN. It’s disgusting that some people are trying to stop African players from playing at CAN,” he said in an interview with Cameroonian journalist, Njie Enow.
Clubs are expected to release guest players from December 27, 2021 to their various national teams in accordance with the rules ahead of continental competition. But until then, no line moves.
The situation is strongly condemned by other former footballers on the continent like Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o.
