Ah, the leaks. So a subject that is regularly the subject of many particularly heated debates in our dear video game industry. Whether they are caused by recognized journalists like Jason Schreier, Jeff Grubb or Tom Henderson, by insiders whose true identity is unknown or by malicious hackers who have stolen this information, they never fail to make players react. And while all our attention was rightly on the recent leaks related to GTA 6, another particularly funny event took place.
The identity of The Real Insider has been discovered
Indeed, since the beginning of the year, a new insider known as “The Real Insider” had caught the attention of gamers by regularly sharing confidential information in preview. Of course, his identity was unknown at the time. At least that was the case until yesterday, when we discovered that it was actually Dan Allen Gamingan Australian YouTuber of nearly 190,000 subscribers. How ? Simply thanks to a tweet posted by the latter, who forgot to switch accounts before replying to a user!
It only took a few seconds for Dan Allen to realize his mistake, and therefore to delete his tweet. Unfortunately, the laws of the internet are ruthless and screenshots quickly began to be shared by netizens who saw the blunder. And if there were already only a few doubts to be had concerning this case, the pure and simple deletion of the @TheRealInsider account that followed only confirmed things.
In the same way, moreover, that the deletion of the @DanAllenGaming account which did not take long to occur no more. The youtuber, however, reactivated the latter during the day in order to publish a message in which he publicly apologizes to the editors, saying that it is about “The biggest mistake[il ait] committed ». “I am terribly ashamed and I am full of remorse” could we also read before he re-disabled his Twitter account again.
A difficult future for Dan Allen Gaming
The question now remains what will become of him now that the pot of roses has been discovered. In the best case, and it is certain that it will happen, it will simply be blacklisted by publishers and will therefore no longer be able to benefit from advantages or previews from them. Suffice to say, therefore, that this will inevitably have negative consequences on its activity. In the worst case, he can then be prosecuted by the latter for non-respect of the confidentiality clause which he had nevertheless signed before getting all this information. And unfortunately for him, it could go very far.
